Proposition 8

Earlier this year, without the backing of a popular vote, the California Supreme Court voted that same-sex marriage was legal in California. This made many people unhappy and thus Propostion 8 is being brought before the public to vote on. A yes vote on Prop 8 supports traditional marriage between a man and a woman and a no vote supports same-sex marriages.

As far as I am aware, this is one of the first times the church has come out and taken a stand politically to this degree. Over the last few weeks we have been out knocking doors. Putting up signs, calling people on the phone, and demonstrating on the major roads in support of Proposition 8. It's been quite a busy few weeks and this next one as we get down to the wire will probably be busier. I was given the assignment to be the Internet Coordinator for my ward for Prop 8. Don't really know what that means but lately I have a group of 15 or so that I help encourage to make time to make Prop 8 phone calls.

In addition to the temporary Prop 8 calling I have my old calling as ward computer guy and then was recently called as Ward Clerk in charge of membership. Needless to say, with all this and my new job I have been quite busy, but that is a good thing. I was getting really bored with having a lot of time on my hands during the ending of my old job.
